Get the NPI records you actually need.
Request a bounded NPI dataset by supported taxonomy and geography. NPIFolio delivers a clean CSV with Type 1 and Type 2 identity, practice-location, taxonomy, and source-release context.
For a defined data need
A usable subset of public NPI evidence.
This page is for analysts, recruiters, and research teams that need a specific provider market rather than the full national CMS bulk artifact.
CMS remains the authoritative public source. NPIFolio adds a manually reviewed scope, normalized one-provider-per-row output, formula-safe CSV serialization, and visible provenance. It does not claim exclusive data or replace the official bulk files.
Choose the subset
Taxonomy, geography, and entity type—without a national-file workflow.
- Taxonomy criteriaUse ordinary specialty language or known taxonomy codes. The final supported code set is confirmed before generation.
- Supported geographyOne state, one city plus state, or one five-digit ZIP. The export does not infer county, radius, or metro areas.
- Type 1 / Type 2Scope individual and organization NPI records deliberately rather than treating every NPI as the same entity type.
Normalized output
Clean fields with the source period attached.
The standard V1 export contains exactly 16 allowlisted columns and one eligible NPI per row. Selected columns are shown here.
| CSV field | Controlled example | How it helps |
|---|---|---|
npi | 0000001020 | Exact 10-digit identity |
entity_type | organization | Distinguish Type 2 from Type 1 |
primary_taxonomy_code | 261QM0801X | Preserve the source-reported primary code |
primary_practice_state | NJ | Represent the agreed geographic filter |
source_last_update_date | 2026-08-01 | Retain source-record update context |
source_provenance_reference | CMS NPPES | Keep the official source visible |
Source and freshness
Current accepted August 2026 release
Each file is pinned to an explicitly accepted CMS NPPES publication. The filename, source-release column, private manifest, and QA record keep the delivery reproducible.
